Right from our first meet up we started giving each other items of clothing, coffee mugs, little tokens from our own life for the other to take home after a visit, to keep close. I drink my tea from his coffee mug every morning (cultural difference, US coffee vs UK tea). I love to wear his t-shirt to bed, he likes having a couple of items of my clothing hanging in his closet (I can only assume he doesn't wear them to bed, but, hey, I'm not judgemental).
Although we Yahoo chat, email and text every day, and Skype probably 5 nights out of 7, we also love to send each other cards and love letters because they seem more real, and it's wonderful to see the other's handwriting on an envelope waiting after a long day at work.
One of my favourite things that we did was exchange little bottles of our perfume/cologne. Although the scent of him is unique and not all about his cologne, being able to smell his cologne helps a little with the longing. Sometimes...
