    Exchanging personal items

Right from our first meet up we started giving each other items of clothing, coffee mugs, little tokens from our own life for the other to take home after a visit, to keep close. I drink my tea from his coffee mug every morning (cultural difference, US coffee vs UK tea). I love to wear his t-shirt to bed, he likes having a couple of items of my clothing hanging in his closet (I can only assume he doesn't wear them to bed, but, hey, I'm not judgemental).
Although we Yahoo chat, email and text every day, and Skype probably 5 nights out of 7, we also love to send each other cards and love letters because they seem more real, and it's wonderful to see the other's handwriting on an envelope waiting after a long day at work.
One of my favourite things that we did was exchange little bottles of our perfume/cologne. Although the scent of him is unique and not all about his cologne, being able to smell his cologne helps a little with the longing. Sometimes...

My SO and i have also been doing this. It is nice to have something of theirs that you can hold, you know, something physical that reminds you of them.
I gave her my ring cause i fidget with it a lot and have a tendency of throwing it away, so she keeps it safe. Articles of clothes are also awesome for moments of snuggling. =)

I love doing this, on the last day of my first visit Si just went and found things to give me lol like his college card, random drawing id seen a picture of before, a tshirt and I managed to keep the jacket id been sleeping in the past 2 nights aswell xD second visit I decided to just leave some of my things in his room so he'd find them when he cleaned up a bit like my cow slippers that we ended up calling the xiaolin cow slippers (watched about 20 add episodes of xiaolin showdown whilst I was there xD) and random clothing and all that, is definately nice to come home and still have items of clothing that smell like us <3

You sound much like me and my SO. We love to exchange little things, and we talk every day on Skype, but that doesn't stop the letters or anything else from being exchanged.

I miss my SO's scent so much.

We exchanged pillows before my boyfriend left, I also gave him a pillow case of mine with my perfume on it. I found his hair on his pillow later and that made me sad...We also exchanged a few pieces of clothes. And I guess I will just buy a small bottle of his perfume myself, it doesn't really make sense to have it sent from 6,000 miles away.

Me and my boyfriend do this too!
We actually exchanged stuffed animals. He still has my Paopu plushie [A star fruit. If you play Kingdom Hearts, you know what I'm talking about]. A paopu, in KH, is shared with someone that you want to have in your life forever. I gave him to this just before we left after his first visit and he's had it since.
I also have his shirt [A MMA elite shirt that I LOVE on him] and his stuffed bear that he's had since he was a kid. They're starting to lose their scent, which means I need to send the shirt back to him soon...

i lovee doing this! it's so hard to not be surround by your SO but little things that are theirs are little reminders! after the first visit he gave me his teddy bear he's had since he was little! i thought it was such a sweet gesture because he would sleep with it at night and he wanted me to have it. i then sent him one of my teddy bears in the mail so we could both have one! i now have some of his cologne, and a few of his shirts that i sleep in a lot, it makes me feel so safe when i'm wearing his clothes

We actually have teddies with little hoodies with our names on it.
It started out as a joke where I gave her one with her name. Then we started exchanging her whenever we had visits. She'd change owner between us in between trips. We'd take turns taking care of her.

Today, I finally received her other half. Now we have two teddies and they can be happy and in love together.
I highly recommend the idea of alternating taking care of a special stuffed toy; it's so much fun.

                          Here's a picture of them!
