    Sleeping together....

No, not that kind of "sleeping together" though I wouldn't give that one up for anything lol The kind of sleeping together I'm talking about is something that my boyfriend and I have kind of fallen into, realized it was darn cool and try to do ever so often. More and more this has been Friday and Saturday nights when neither of us have to be up early the next morning.

There is something quite special and intimate about listening to someone you love sleep.. the funny little noises they make (my guy snores even tho he won't admit it hehe) We use Skype, a good set of headphones that are comfortable and not too bulky and a good internet connection and then lay down and talk until we doze or fall asleep. Waking up in the morning is drowsy time and this morning for example I just laid still and listened to him. He has done the same for me when I was really tired... that day I slept until nearly 1 pm and everytime I would kind of wake up, he was there with a whisper until I went back to sleep.

In the grand scheme of things this seems kind of cheesy but it has been really awesome for us and something we enjoy alot. We have found that the memory foam pillows are awesome for headphones as well Just thought I'd share something we do to feel close and connected when there is no way we can be there physicaly in person.

My SO and I would love to do this, but we're 12 hours apart. When she goes to bed I'm at school and when I go to bed she's at uni.

We also can't do this because my SO doesn't have unlimited broadband. We can only do webcam on the weekends.

We did it one time though. Well, she slept while I was watching. It was beautiful and made me smile a lot. She looked so peaceful in her sleep.

yes we are lucky to be in the same time zone even tho we are 800 miles apart. I forget how lucky sometimes, it makes everything a bit easier.

However yes, there is something quite beautiful about it.. I love this coping tool

Me and Sam did that a few times and I loved it soooo so much.. only both our connections were too crap for it and it would kick either one/both of us out of msn in the night, the quality of the picture was kinda crap too most of the time as the cameras kept freezing quite a lot aaaand we couldn't hear each other.. Think it worked properly once through the night and when it did, it felt so good to see him there, looking at me

I love this, but we both have roommates so it's only happened twice. But it feels so nice <3

I wish we could do this, but he has a roommate because he lives in a dorm, random guys just barge into his room (from what I can tell), and our sleep schedules are different, though we're in the same time zone (and same state). He goes to bed anywhere between 2 and 5 am usually and I go to bed between 11 and 1 usually.

                That's a nice idea!

Though my guy and I don't do it, we just talk until we get sleepy (him usually first since he is 8 hours ahead but he pushes himself to stay up way late so sometimes we sleep at the same time.. i just go to sleep earlier than what may be the norm for most people my age lol) and then hang up skype.

I don't think it would work for us because our connection/internet signal isn't the greatest so I think it would end up cutting off halfway into the night anyways.. plus my boyfriend can't move his PC as easily as I can move my laptop and I think we'd both be uncomfortable sleeping with headphones on (partly fear of getting strangled by them in our sleeps lol).. though it would probably work without headphones I guess.. it's a great idea though, I would love to wake up to my boy on skype!

we dont actually sleep so much as we just doze in and out.. the headphones can be a pain depending on the make, but the memory foam pillows are great because they will squish flat and are actually more comfortable with the headphones than you'd think We have made it a Friday / Saturday thing so dont have to get up early.. just kind of be lazy together lol

Skype is interesting in that if you disconnect it will try to reconnect a few times.. mine blips in and out too but doesn't wake him when he's sleeping.. and he's the one that wraps himself up in the cords.. it's kind of funny and I can always tell when he does lol

Just something we do that might work for others, even if its just for a nap now and then.. just an amazing thing to wake up and such a sweet and intimate thing to just hear them there, nothing sexual about it.. just nice and warm.

I've always wanted to do that but it is really impractical with our relationship. How did you keep your computer from "falling asleep". Mine would have turned off skype after a while...

Me and my SO are 7hrs apart, so we dont really do this. One time when I was having a really hard time sleeping, he played me to sleep with his guitar on skype.

                      That was wonderful

Though my boyfriend and I love our Skype chats, we have yet to do this.

It came up about two months ago when we were skyping and he got really tired but he didn't want to leave me just yet. I remember he was tempted to drag his monitor to his nightstand and talk to me until he fell asleep but then he said he didn't want me to hear him snore and that getting to watch him sleep probably wouldn't be a pretty sight. Haha.

I think falling asleep together via webcam is a great idea and I can't wait to try it.

Even though we don't get on cam together all that often, I'm pretty sure even if we did I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this. I don't know why, but something about someone (yes, even my boyfriend) watching me sleep for more than just a minute sort of makes me fidget. I'm not exactly the most graceful sleeper (have to wear this big rubberlike guard in my mouth at night since I grind my teeth so much from stress), and who knos what kinds of odd noises one makes in their sleep? Of course I fully realize when time comes to sleep together in person I won't have much of a choice but to face these things, but for now, as much as I hate saying good night to him, bed time is my time.

My SO and I do this all the time We are only an hour apart from each other so the time difference doesn't usually matter. However, I am the night owl so I can stay up a lot longer and I can run off very little sleep WAY better than my SO. He will crash the next day unless he gets enough sleep. Poor baby.

We don't use skype for falling asleep. He only has his big monitor on the desk and I would probably punch my laptop off my bed some time in the middle of the night. I don't trust myself when I sleep lol We DO fall asleep on the phone though. We both have comfortable headsets and we both have AT&T, so we have unlimited minutes between us. We definitely take advantage of that!

It isn't cheesy at all It is very cute and I do love hearing him breathing deeply (or snoring lol) while he sleeps.
