    Cooking together

I'm a pretty bad cook. I mean, the few simple meals I can cook, I make alright, but I'm so lazy when it comes to cooking. It's a pretty stressful task for me. (I do love to eat though!)
Anyway, I realise I have to learn/practice it out sooner or later, and I actually do want to.

He on the other hand is a lot better cook than me. (He's probably better at a lot of the domestic stuff to be honest )

So I suggested he should teach me, via Skype. He'll pick a meal, tell me a couple of days in advance which ingredients I need to get (since I only have like milk and chocolate in my kitchen) and give me step by step instructions + oversee it while we're on a video call.

I like the idea since: (1) I'll learn to cook a meal he likes, (2) he probably won't make me feel useless like my mum/aunt/granny do when they try to teach me, and (C) we should have a fun time - in theory at least. In reality, he'll probably have to deal with a series of mini breakdowns from me...

But he's still quite amused by the idea and as soon as we get the time (not for a few weeks unfortunately) we're on it.

That sounds like such a great idea! Cooking can be so much fun (not to mention delicious) once you get the hang of it, and if your SO is cooking along with you, you could always have dinner together on Skype too. Please report back with what you learn to make. Good luck!

Thanks guys! I'll take pics as proof, haha.

Also, I suppose those of you who are more skilled could have like a cooking competition with your SO. Like your private Masterchef show.

my fiance and I do that. I'm still a rookie when it comes to cooking, but I still know more than he does. since we're more than 6000 miles apart and 7 hours time difference, it's hard to cook together, but I did walk him through some recipes (through skype) and the result was surprising to both of us; he managed to make yummi stuff! plus we had a lot of fun and laughed together during the process .
we usually use the recipes from this site https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/content/recipes/favourites/
according to him, the ingredients and direction are straight forward and easy to understand and execute.

lol I didn't see this, but we're doing this today! My SO is complaining because he always screws up Omelets- it always turns into scrambled eggs, so today we've set up a time for him to get up, and I'll take my laptop to the kitchen and show him how to make one I might show him how to make my Mexican Lasagna too, he's said he has been craving it ever since I left after my last visit!

Ahhh! I LOVE this! My SO and I do this when we are together. He is a much more trained cook than I am and he gets me into the kitchen with him so I can do it on my own with his instructions. I am on a trip now and I've cooked almost all of our dinners. It would be a BLAST to do this via skype and yes, like Holiday said, you can have dinner together afterward!
