I like skpe because i can actually see the person and it provides more than a phone conversation does. But i do not like to be on skype all the time.

We actually use Skype to call each other's phones if one of us is away from home, or if one of us is experiencing an internet outage, which luckily only happens once in awhile. We both prefer Skype videochat when we're at home because it's so awesome to see each other while we're talking! I also really love it because I have a laptop and wifi and can move around the apartment doing stuff while we're talking, like cooking, folding my laundry, etc. and it's much more fun to continue talking with him and still doing all the stuff I need to do around the house - it's like we're looking at each other through little windows. Being together in person is the ultimate and the best, of course, but while we have to wait, Skype really helps us a lot!

We really like skype just because it not only lets us hear the other one, but it lets us see them too!

I voted for a Skype date.

I truthfully cannot imagine how my LDR would be without it. Through skype we get to talk - I would say that the voice quality beats a long distance phone call. We get to see each other but more than just sitting in front of the computer. My SO has seen me cook ala food network. He has seen me sleep and I am sure - heard me snore. Another great feature with SKype is the screen sharing where we can get to watch movies or TV series. (Now we are watching American Horror Story) We have meals together too. LOL Our time difference is like 12 hours his dinner is my breakfast and while he was having pizza I ordered for some too (yes there is Pizza delivery in Manila 24 hours a day) hahaha Since we are a gamer couple - if I am not in the mood to log on and play I just watch what he's doing and fall in and out of sleep but it's like we are together even if we are far apart. Plus He gets to see my cats - like real pet cats and I get to see his and see him do all sorts of things as well.

Personally I love Skype, you just get more enjoyment out of it. You get to see each other, and you just have more fun. Also with being on the computer on Skype it lets you do other things, such as watch videos together, play games together, writes/make things for each other. I starting using Skype a while ago, and I would never choose anything else.

I don't like skype. Talking to a screen just seems odd to me. The connection of our webcams isn't the greatest either so only one cam can be on at a time. It's usually mine. We only use skype so he can watch me "do stuff"

We prefer text messages, IM (we still use good ol' AIM), and facebook chat pretty regularly. Email or facebook messaging is less common. We call on the phone when we can usually at night or a weekend because of my phone plan. I live for a phone call. I actually called him for all of 30 minutes the other day simply because I missed his voice.
". . . We obviously have to come to accept it, but that doesn't stop it from gnawing at us day by day.
The best we can do is enjoy our time together, anticipate our reunions, and remain passionate and loyal through distance." ~Mike <3

We pretty much text all day every day when we're not in class...but I love Skype. We live in two different countries so the long distance charges would be pretty ridiculous if we used the phone. Skype is also great because I can SEE him while we're talking and I love that. It makes me feel much closer to him.

We've yet to use Skype - neither of us have webcams. So it's always phone/text/Vent. After reading all this though I think I'm gonna head over to Tigerdirect.com and buy a pair of webcams. He's told me before he doesn't like video chat, but I think it's time he got over that, lol!

We don't actually like Skype very much, preferring to stick with MSN video calls. I guess I'd rather that to the phone, since with a webcam and microphone you can see and hear each other at the same time. Not to mention, it isn't often we can speak on the phone as I so rarely have the house to myself

We have better and longer conversations over Skype than phone. My SO gets quite after a while when we're talking on the phone. But when we're skypeing, 3 hours can go by without us even noticing.
