    Food?

I know that you're not allowed to bring stuff like meat and such, but what about those small Maggi spices/packages? Like this one: https://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofil..._7335651_n.jpg? I thought you were allowed to, but someone just told me that they had problems sending stuff like that to Japan. I'm not sure about New Zealand? I would be putting it in my carry-on luggage. I couldn't find anything on the Qantas website, so any help would be appreciated!

If you want you could send me pictures of all the ones you were thinking of bringing and I can see what ones we might have here?

I got some food items confiscated from me at customs. Later found out they made a mistake and I should have been allowed to bring those items in, but it was too late to get them back. ): If you're bringing them in your carry on and they're in small quantities consider not declaring them, so there's no chance of them taking it away.

Generally the rules are no meat, nothing fresh/uncooked...I'm not sure about the stuff you posted. Is it real meat?

When I travel to Finland, I always try to bring uniquely American foods with me for my boyfriend to try, then I bring home Finnish food I like. So far, I've just stuck it all in my checked bags, and haven't had any problems. I kind of forget to mention them on the customs forms I don't bring anything like fresh meat or produce though. I haven't had any problems yet, and I figure the worst they'll do is confiscate it.

Some things are typically German and I really want to make them for you! But maybe we could see about the other stuff.

It's no meat at all! It's just this powder which you have to mix with either water or cream and you'll get a sauce out of it. So I think that should be okay...?

I always bring spices and powdered mixes when I come to Africa and I've never had a problem. They are only concerned with living (or recently-living) things that could bring bacteria into the country.

Thank you! I'm just going to take them with me and see what happens.

You shouldn't have any problems with that, since it's powdered food.
Like others have said, what mostly to avoid is meat, plants/vegetables (fresh) and such things.
My husband and I bring a lot of food stuff back and forth between Japan and Europe. (he brings Japanese snacks & food for me and I bring his parents food gifts). Haven't had any problems.

You should find what you need on the customs website:
                  https://www.customs.govt.nz/inprivat...s/default.aspx

I'm about to visit my boyfriend, and i'm having the same issues
