I only have a pair of goldfish now, my beloved dog of 17 years died last January she got to meet him though and she was very kind and accepting, as she was with everyone really. He loves dogs so it worked great both ways.

He doesn't have pets, but his mother has a cat, it's a bit older and set in her ways. I'm not really a cat fan tbh, I don't really dislike them or anything but I don't think I'd want them as pets. I got along OK with this one, I felt like she kept an eye on me at all times but she also let me pet her and purred, which I guess means I'm OK in her book.

She totally dislikes him though, and it's mutual. He doesn't like cats and I guess she feels it. His mother laughed at how they can hardly get along. In addition he has a mild allergy to cat hair so I take it his mum keeps a cat just to wind him up lol

My current SO loves animals, and my dog loves him. My ex didn't think I was serious when it was good my dog liked him because his opinion mattered. Little did he know I was very serious, and my dog makes it very clear when he disapproves of someone, so I think if Oliver ever did that I would seriously have to consider my relationship.

Haha, I'm enjoying seeing everyone's opinions! Ruby's made me giggle seeing my cat is exactly like your SO's... I have never had a more possessive and jealous pet than my cat. >_>

But for those who have talked about their pet's opinion potentially being reason to reconsider the relationship, have you ever been in that situation? Like I mentioned my cat disliked my ex. Even though I knew we weren't going to get married, I still planned on staying in the relationship while it was still good (lasted only a couple months more).

I have one very fat, spoilt kitty who hates my guts but really loves me to bits (I love her to bits) and I have a guinea pig called Fred who couldn't care less who likes him as long as he gets his food He's my baby and I absolutely dote on him, and I can tell he loves me too cause he loves cuddling up to me and pretty much coos at me all the time. I would be unhappy if my SO didn't like him, but I've shown him Fred a few times whilst we've been on webcam and my SO has laughed pretty much everytime he's seen Fred, since he always sniffs the camera as if to say "Is it edible?" lol

Ahh, I love small, furry animals. I love my Fred, the little ball of fluff lol <3

I think my SO underestimates how happy it makes me that my dog loved him, haha. My Fergus loves people (he's a golden retriever, so he has to!!) but he has always preferred his own people whenever we have guests around. My SO and I went to my mum's house while he was over visiting me in the summer, and Fergus followed him around the whole time, and would sit beside him when we were eating, and bring him toys. I would have still loved my SO as much regardless of my dog's reaction, but it made me so happy to see such a cute interaction between them! My SO is admittedly not much of an animal person, but he said he thought my dog was "sound", which I guess is Irish speak for pretty awesome, haha!

              I used to have Guinea Pigs! They are funny little things... Mine was named Holly, a little teddy. :P She was brown with a white blaze. Do you have any pictures of Fred? As adorable as they are, I still think I prefer owning rats... They're a bit more interactive. I always found my piggies to be quite skittish and jumpy! Don't get me wrong, they loved being held/coddled, but I don't think I've ever seen anything go into SQUEALOMGI'MGOINGTODIE mode faster than a Guinea Pig. o.o;;

I had 11 guinea pigs at one time, when I was younger, and I cared for them all with my mum's help xD I like guinea pigs most because they're just so comical and they have really sweet natures, even though Fred does bite me when he's hungry but not out of spite. He just does it to remind me that he's hungry

LOL well my mum called me after her dog, great huh? ><

I have some pictures, just took them now, here we go =)

My dog hates men (her previous owner was a man and he abused her), so bringing a guy home is extremely hard because she hates them. Well she saw my guy and auto fell in love with him, now she gets even more depressed than i do if she doesn't see him for a couple of days. so we kid around saying that she misses her boyfriend and i kid that she stole my boyfriend from me

I told Rane before his first visit that if my dog didn't take to him, that was the end of things, and I meant it. She doesn't care for my ex husband... she's a smart one.

Haha! I've never really thought about this. My cats seem to be fine with my SO, I think they aren't very picky. But they are still pretty young, so I'm not sure if that influences their opinion :P My brother has a bearded dragon (that's what google translate said...) which is pretty indifferent, he only shows some emotion when food is involved... I just like to think he approves of my SO too ^^

Absolutely precious! 11 at one time? Wowsa. I think the most I've ever had was 5? And that was when my Guinea had a litter of 4. :P

And all of these stories are making me both smile and giggle.

My first was unexpected, and because it was unexpected I/we were unprepared. :/ I was probably around 7 or 8? Maybe 9? So my mother wasn't quite sure what to do either. :P Were ignorant for how to sex the babies and weren't sure when to separate them, so she ended up getting pregnant again by one of the babies. >_> One of those incestuous little muffins turned out to be a 4-H winner though. Showed well until her older years. They were sweet little things though. It amuses me how big their feet are when they first come out!

Animals are smart - its important to trust their opinions.

I always make a big fuss of the pets in other peoples houses. I love animals and luckily for the most part they seem to love and trust me

At an ex's house, I was sitting on the sofa and their cat Kip came in. I went to stroke him and he jumped straight up onto my lap, curled up and went to sleep. The whole family were staring at me in shock. "Wh..aaat?" I asked nervously. Apparently the cat NEVER warmed up to anyone that fast - not even them when they adopted him! So that was a very good sign. I was so sad when I found out Kip had died after me and that boyf broke up
Tea and hugs make the world go round - don't ever discount the little things in life.

Smiling away to oneself brings an obscene amount of joy when only you know the reason why your smiling. Pick something secret to smile about and let it light up your face all day long!

And remember....Love really IS all around.

We both love pets, and would get a cat if I wasnt alergic, but as I am, we will get a big dog (not alergic to dogs), a labrador or saint bernard! in less than 2 years! hopefully til the end of next year! It would make our lives even happier and more complete!!!
