How & when did you meet?
In October last year. His best friend was dating my best friend. Our friends didn't stay together for long, but we just clicked and here we are.

How long have you been together?
6 months.

What made you go LD?
I met him while I was on my summer vacation, in my home town. I had a job offer the other end of the country that I had already agreed to prior to meeting him.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
November, after he has finished his studies. 7ish months to go.

How & when did you meet?
I studied abroad in Scotland and we were both in the same residence hall so we met in the cafeteria I bravely sat next to him and his buddy thinking they looked attractive on February 3, 2010 at dinner, my first day there.

How long have you been together?
2 years and 2 months exactly tomorrow.

What made you go LD?
I had to come back to finish my degree (graduated May 2011) plus my visa was going to run out sometime.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
No. We're working on that now (our original plan fell through). He wanted to focus on his studies but now he's almost done, he graduates in June. Once we get the finances together to prove to the UK that I will be supported for 2 years without "recourse to public funds" is when we'll be together hopefully. It also depends on whether I go to grad school or not which isn't looking hopeful.

How & when did you meet?
We met in Sept 2008. I was starting my 1st year in Uni, and he was only doing Masters in the same Uni for a year.

How long have you been together?
3 years and 4 months, we were only CD for 4 months.

What made you go LD?
He decided to take up another degree in Ireland, and I'm still finishing my degree. We knew it was going to be LD if we wanted to stay together as we're not even from the same home country to start with.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
No. Its more complicated because we're still studying at the moment, and it'll be hard to try get jobs in the same country/area. Makes me sad every time I think about it.

How & when did you meet?
Funny story, we actually met three times before we actually remembered each other. We were dating other people (my bf was his gf's little brother, oddly enough) and that's how we met twice and then we finally remembered each other after meeting through our local Boy Scout troop... sounds nerdy, and it probably is. We didn't really start hanging out much until he was my math tutor and that's what really pushed us together (cliche, but true). This was over a period of years, btw.

How long have you been together?
3 years, 3 weeks, and 3 days, we started going out April 1, 2009 (april fool's day!)

What made you go LD?
School. It's also what's closing our distance. Yay!

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
Yes! August around the 16th... I can't wait! I have a countdown on my phone

I just realized how ironic our whole relationship is... ^that stuff is only the beginning!

How and When did you meet?
We met through mutual friends in year 13. We were friends for a few months, then we had a falling out, before we both expressed our feelings to each other. We had our first kiss after a sixth form quiz night (lol) then the next day I went to his house and decided to make it "facebook" official after making out :P (24 Jan 2009)

How long have you been together?
3 years and 3 months (or however long that ticker thing says at the bottom :P)

What made you LD?
This our second time being LD. The first time we became LD was about 8 months into our relationship, when I went away for uni (Accepted the place before we got together). Then he moved to live near me. We were CD for about a year (excluding our different uni holidays - he worked all summer) before I got a job in the USA for one year, so now we're LD again.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
I'm looking at moving back to the UK end of july, my accomodation contract here end on 31st july so i have to move by then. He will be working until mid august, so probably then. We dont know how long for though. He graduates earlier than me, but my plan is to move to wherever he wants to go once I graduate about 4 months after him. I havnt decided exactly what im doing once I graduate, but as long as the area he chooses has sufficent work and higher education opportunities we will be fine

How & when did you meet?
We met in March 2010, when I was traveling around Japan and stayed in his parents house as a homestay "student".

How long have you been together?
Around 2 years and a month XD

What made you go LD?
I had to go back to Denmark, mostly because I had university waiting for me there.

Around when I graduate I guess. So maybe in the summer of 2014.

We met once, at a school event, around May 2010. Just a brief encounter. We formally met as colleagues in our Associated Student Government in the Fall of 2010. We started talking in late January of 2011.

How long have you been together?
Just about a year. Our anniversary is on Friday!

What made you go LD?
I had plans on transferring to a different university before I even started dating him.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
Nothing set in stone, but I'm graduating in September, he's leaving to transfer to a different university himself, and I plan on coming with him. *fingers crossed*

How & when did you meet?
My SO and I met at school thanks to some friends. We both enjoy arts so our friends introduced us to one another. After just the second time we spoke, he sent me a letter saying he wanted to get to know me more because he had found me quite interesting. We found out we had many things that we liked about each other.

How long have you been together?
1 year, 10 days :P

What made you go LD?
His family's economic situation...they lived somewhere else and he lived with his brother here. he went to live back with his parents and he will make his career there.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
That's gonna take quite a long time... I guess at least 4 more years.

We actually met for the first time in June of 2009 in a sleepy little town in Nicaragua. I was there doing work in the education/public health sector and it turns out I was renting a room at his cousin's house. When we first met, I actually didn't think much of him, although he later told me he was always interested in me.

How long have you been together?
1.5 years

What made you go LD?
I really reached a point where I needed to make some real money to pay off my grad school loans and save, hence I decided to come back to the US to work.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
I am really hoping and planning for next year- ideally Spring or Summer.

We met in high school, got to know each other in a few classes. Really started hanging out when I formed a rock band and asked his sister to play drums. We started dating the last few months of high school.

What made you go LD?
Both of us going to graduate school and needing to go to separate schools, it was hard to find a school with both of our programs. We tried and neither of us got in to that school.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
I graduate in 18 days, so really its about 18 days (we have been LDR for almost two years). He's coming to live with me during the summer because I have a job and he works from home during the summers, then in August when he goes back to school I will have the freedom to go anywhere I want, so hopefully I am going with him and finding a job where he lives.

We originally met freshmen year of college since he was a trumpet player like my roommate. They actually had crushes on each other and I had no interest in my now SO. Over the summer he sent me a message on AIM asking me how life was and we talked for hours. We met up at the beginning of sophomore year and the rest is history!

a little over 3.5 years

What made you go LD?
We've been LD a few times: I studied abroad for 4 months sophomore year, we lived about 2 hrs apart in the summers of undergrad and we're currently LD since I'm in grad school and he has a teaching job at home

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
I am moving back to Maryland in May 2013, so we'll be two hours driving distance then. As for permanently closing the distance, we're hoping sometime in 2014.

How and when did you first meet?

We meet at university when I was a student in the lab he worked at, it would have been late September/ early October 2011 when we first met.

How long have you been together?

Officially just under a year, unofficial just over!!

What made you go long distance?

He has to finish the rest of his studies abroad (the last 18months) due to his funding.

Do you have any idea when you will be able to close the distance?

He will have to return to my university right at the end of his studies for a month or two, but after he is done we have no idea where he might be. But we will be closing the distance for at least a few months around Christmas 2013

My SO and I met at the club we both worked at. i was the cleaner- hes the DJ. at the time we were just mates, as was with the ex at time. however he dumped me in jan 2010 and 3 weeks later me and now BF starting seeing each other more.

How long have you been together?
2 years +. our anniversary is 14th feb (of all the clichqes¬¬)

What made you go LD?
My job; it was a opportunity too good to pass. unfortunetly it meant leaving our flat for 7 months.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
yes- 19th may, so very soon. however its likely it'll become LDR again within the year due to job prospects in the SW are low in my field.

I have know my SO for as long as I could remember. But we became friends about 12 years ago when I was in high school. I use to go hang out at his house with another friend of ours. I guess he liked me from that time but I thought he was promiscuous and so I wasn't interested. He went on to have a son and I had one also. As I stated before he works on a cruise ship and whenever he came home he would visit me, I thought he was always visiting year after year because of our friendship but last year he finally admitted how he felt about me.

How long have you been together?
A little over 5 months.

What made you go LD?
His job.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
He's coming in July and I think he'll be staying for two months and then back to work for six more months.

How & when did you meet?
I had a friend who was dating his best friend at the time. I would go hang out with my friends and their SOs a lot and on one outing Alex (the guy who was my SO best friend and was dating my friend) felt bad for me because I was the 5th wheel, so he told me about my SO. We connected through facebook, and had a first date and meeting a week later. We are very grateful to our friends.

How long have you been together?
2 years, 3 months. Our anniversary is in January.

What made you go LD?
College.

Do you have any idea when you'll be able to close the distance?
Yes! In a year and a half, he will be moving up to the town where I go to school. I can't wait!
