no children for us.... my daughter is turning 5 soon and his son will be 12 in a few months. Besides that, we are a bit too old for having babies of our own.

Is this a typo and you meant definitely or does he want kids for some sort of rebellious reason? If you really meant defiantly, I think we'd all like to hear the story behind that lolI triumphed in the face of adversity

We both want to get married within the next couple(few?) years. We, of course, need to close the distance first. We plan to close the distance the beginning of next March. We've also discussed children. We both want 2 kids, possibly 3 if we decide we can handle it. We want to wait until she's done with her degree and I get finished with a trade school so we can both have decent paying, reliable employment. We're excited for it but not going to rush things. We're still young (23&25) so we have some time. We've talked about having children within the next 5 years.
She's going to make a fantastic mother, I'm looking forward to it more than anything.
Yes, what my other half said, exactly. However, I wanted to mention, Dylan has given me back my want to be a mother. My previous relationship was emotionally abusive and I couldn't have imagined bringing children into it. Dylan is such an amazing man, I can't wait to be a mother (just like I have since birth it seems ) The only thing that would make me prouder than being Dylan's wife, would be being the mother of his children.
I can't wait to close the distance and finish school. My motor runs a lover's heartbeat
It's just me and you

Baby, turn the radio on

I've wanted children for as long as I can remember. I know my SO wants kids but not how many. I want 3, so I'm hoping he'll want about the same.
OP, I know what you mean! Even though I'm only 23, I can hear my clock ticking in my ears and I want wedding bells and babies!"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love " ~ Theodore Seuss Geisel.

I would love to have children with him, and it makes my heart melt when he says "When we have our children..." we also joke about names and stuff and all of that good stuff.
It is also a running joke between us and our families that I'm going to be either married or pregnant within a year of us closing the distance, which is pretty scary considering I'll 'only' be 21

I love reading all of these different answers and opinions! It's awesome to see how peoples' "timelines" (or lack thereof) are so different.
Personally, I have always been extremely family-oriented. I've wanted kids my whole life and I can't wait to graduate college, start on my intended career, get married, and have kids! I'm more of a larger family person, so I'm definitely aiming towards 4 kids. I actually think that may be my minimum! Although I probably wouldn't go over 6. I cannot wait to have a huge family with (hopefully) a mix of boys and girls My SO and I are also on the younger side (19) so we'll definitely be waiting a few years, too! My ideal age to get married has always been 24 (I'm not exactly sure why, but it is what it is!) and I think I'd want kids maybe a year or year and a half after we get married. My SO and I have talked about it quite a bit, and he is on the exact same page. Of course, we know the timeline is subject to change (especially depending on the amount of grad school he will have to do) and we're alright with that!
My SO will make an absolutely amazing father. Ever since I've known him, I've thought this. He is great with both my younger siblings and my little cousins (as well as his!) and pretty much any child we encounter! He's always the first, when we're out and about, to point out a baby and start making faces at them He's very excited for kids as well. I can't wait!

Oh god, I have been so ridiculously broody lately. When I was younger, I never thought I would want kids. Then slowly as I've grown up, I've realised I want them. Obviously I am far too young at the moment, and my SO is 2 years younger than me, so I'm probably going to have to wait about 8 more years before I have kids. But yeah, I definitely want some, and she and I have talked about it, and she wants kids too, fortunately.
Oh, also, I don't want any more than 2 children. I still can't decide if I'd prefer 1 or 2. Definitely want a girl though.

I'm 25 years old and ready to get married and start a family within the next three years. My SO, who is two years younger than me, feels the same way. We both always wanted to be young parents and I think he'd be a gread dad just because he's a great person. Very loving and kind and smart and a number of other things that I won't say because I won't be able to stop and this reply will be looooooooong!
As for how many kids we want, he said if there are no limits he'd want seven kids! I couldn't possible push out sooo many and be much happier with four kids, because I don't want to be a stay-at-home-mom. I want to be able to work...

We're starting our family now, so I'll be 25 (if the Gods are kind) when our first enters the world. And, if I'm man enough to hack it, I'll be 26 for number two, and 27 for number three.
We've always agreed that when we spawned, we would do so in quick succession, so that the kids would be in the same age group and thus be better able to grow up as mates. (My sister is 17 months and one day older than me, and she's my best friend. We share everything. I want that for my kids. - and his sister is only two years younger than him. They were great together growing up, even if their relationship isn't what I'd call close now.)
But, pregnancy isn't the easiest thing on earth, so I'm not sure at this stage I will be able to handle being pregnant and a new mother. We will see.
I want four kids. It's important to me to have a large family. Obi isn't keen on having so many though. He only ever wanted two (which is his version of "normal" two parents, two kids.) but may be willing to compromise with three especially if the first two are the same gender.
I'm not sure we'll be good parents, honestly, but we will give it everything we've got. I've seen him with my young nieces and nephews and he's great, and I've looked after kids before and know how to deal with them, but we're both pretty up-front with the fact that we don't really like children. At least, not other people's. >.> I saw a thing on facebook the other day that said "Kids are like farts, you don't mind your own but you can't stand anyone elses" it seemed to have some truth in it.
Timeline wise, we decided to have kids and delay buying a house, because we want to buy in Canada but have children here in Oz. However, most of our deposit comes from his savings (from a settlement) and whatever I end up with after my sister and I sell our house, so we're not hurting ourselves/our future by renting a few years. I also don't have a carrer and likely will never go to uni and that makes it easier for us to have kids now. (I wanted to be younger, but you can't have it all..)
I plan to return to work in the evenings/weekends as soon as my body will allow me to do so.Happily married to the little Canadian boy I never thought I'd meet in person

So when would you like to have a family? Well if all goes well with our closing the distance plans I'll be 20 and I'd like to have a few years for us just to enjoy being together before we bring kids into it but I'd need to start trying early, everyone in my family has had trouble producing kids so I'd say we'll start trying about 23 and hopefully have kids by 25
How many children? 2 would be good 3 if the first 2 are the same gender.
Do you think your SO would be a great dady? Honestly I think he would, he denies it but I can see him being an amazing father especially if we had a bunch of little boys running around.

I always wanted to be married by the age of 24 and start having babies at 25... Oh how naive I was... Truth is, i'm 30 and i still dont see when will i get married, and i wouldn't have babies without being married.
My SO and i have talked about marriage and babies though. If distance wasn't an issue, we would probably be unofficially engaged by now. We'd get married in a year and if it was up to him, we'd start having kids right away (he even said he'd like us to get pregnant during our first visit but i b*tch slaped the idea out if him lol), i'd like to wait at least a year.
How many children?
i have always wanted 2 or 3 and he agrees. Id like girls, because i know he'd melt for them.

Yes, he has flaws just like everybody, but the fact that his father neglected him and his brother and he just wasnt there most of their lives makes him know better... He KNOWS what kind of father he wants to be
