Let's see. Our most regular and reliable means of communication is e-mail. Every workday, all throughout the day, we exchange e-mails. I suppose it slightly affects our productivity but it's not that bad. For the last year I've been having some internet issues, so most of the time I don't have access to it at home. When I do we Skype (we try to do that at least once a week) or talk on IRC. When I don't, we exchange a couple of text messages (but we often don't). Phone calls are pretty sporadic. Once or twice a week, for a few minutes.
We used to be much more in touch than we are now, but I really don't mind spending some time apart, so long as I know that he's alive and well. It feels healthier.
