If it were me, I'd tell him simply that after thinking about it, you realize you were being a jerk and you're sorry. That's it. No "But"s, that ruins the apology. Then ask him about the car, act interested and happy for him, keep any negativity to yourself, and everything will be fine.

My mustang in the driveway begs to differ on your Ford analysis. Best car I've ever had. My first car was a 94 Thunderbird and it was also awesome until I totaled it. But any way. I think if you are going to be sharing in this car you should have a say. My SO recently bought a car and asked my opinion on everything. Because it will be our car. I don't think you should have final say but input would have been nice. As for the danger, if he was buying a bike or something I could see you being concerned. But a car? There's seriously no reason to overreact. It's a car. As long as it's maintained it will be fine. All cars come with a risk something will break.

This does have relavance to the topic since I originally thought we were talking about a 7000 pound car, not a 1000 pound car. Biiiiig difference!

I personally dont care what car my bf picks.
His tastes and his money ^^;
As long as I have him near me he can pick any car he wants.
If it was our money together, then I would have had another opinion.♡ ~~~~ 'When you find something worth fighting for, you never give up' ~~~~ ♡

I was in this situation earlier this year. My fiance decided it was finally time to buy a new car. He listened to my input and to some of the things that I would like included, but ultimately, it was his decision. I didn't even know what kind of car he got until he had already bought it. It wasn't a big deal. I was just glad that he finally had a car of his own. He'd been sharing with his brother before that.
P.S. My fiance is also from the UK, and he said that HBB probably wouldn't have been able to get a Honda for 1,000 pounds unless it was really old."I'll hold you in my heart till I can hold you in my arms again."
