The police are the ones who decide whether we get the permit or not? It's all down to them. They know what they're talking about

The unemployment office wont know as well as the police as to what's required for us to get the permit

Let's ignore the police... they don't seem very helpful anyway... too bad we have to rely on them for our initial applications next summer... :/

That's only because they know the police will be useless

I'm convinced Finland don't want any foreigners to move there...

"I called migri, told them that I've got a boyfriend in
England and we're sorting out the moving stuff and he immediately said
to call the police office, and that they basically only take care of
            non-eu stuff"

From elina just now. Seems migri are the useless ones

Yup, I'm thinking the police should know the best. They have to know what they're on about if they're the ones who decide whether you get the permit or not. I just don't know how to ask the right questions I'm not gonna bother calling migri again, kinda sounded like it's really none of their business.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiii'm probably gonna call the police again on Monday but Tanja (and Andy), I guess if you have time, you should try going to the police office or at least give them a call.. and ask _everything_, about the money and how much you'd need and what's the point of that (Sam's been talking about 6000e but that's the amount NON-EU people need to have if they're coming here to study, I have no idea if that would be the same case here, it could be less or they might not even have a certain amount, who knows..) and everything else.

Getting pretty fed up with this and Finland's way of handling these things.

Why is it so complicated? Everyone knows people move all over the world for someone they love, why do they make it so difficult???

Yeah I'll call the police when I get the chance and we'll try to think of things to ask...

I might mention not to panic about the money just yet. It seems Finland is a lot more picky than Canada, but to get my visa here I was supposed to be able to prove I had enough money to support myself if I couldn't get a job, a minimum of $5000. When I got here I had about $300 to my name. Luckily, they never checked. Seeming I'd agreed to that as a term when I applied for the visa, they assumed I had it. So you might just get lucky.
                    Don't panic!
