While I know NOTHING about what you are going through... I still want to respond and tell you that we are ALL here for you, supporting you and here to listen.
Tea and hugs make the world go round - don't ever discount the little things in life.
Smiling away to oneself brings an obscene amount of joy when only you know the reason why your smiling. Pick something secret to smile about and let it light up your face all day long!
I totally feel for you as that is exactly what I'm going through now. I'm from an Asian country and my SO is from UK, and the plan is for me to join him there. We had looked at the visa options to the UK and these are the problems we are facing:

Like you all this sometimes just gets too much. We have written, called, emailed the UK Home Office Border Agency to seek further information and advice and the 1 time they replied - 8 months after we emailed them, we were re-directed to get the information from the website. AARGHHH!!!!
Hey, I can totally feel with you: My SO is also Asian, and we're planning for her to come to Europe, but either she would have needed a job from an employer that could prove they wouldn't find anybody else in whole Europe(!), or we have to get married, which we happily will this year - but it's really sad that one's own government is forcing one to get married, just because they're so bl**dy afraid of immigrants...
*knows this is an old topic, but is going to post anyways*
If your Fiance is in the military (which i'm assuming is the reason he can't leave the US until september) maybe he could look into being stationed at one of the military bases in the UK or even in Europe.
Treasuretrooper <-- how I helped pay for some of my LDR expenses when I was in one.
I'm in a similar situation, except I'm looking for J1 jobs as I'm graduating in July. But if I don't find anything, the plan is to apply for a tourist visa which lasts six months, go out there and try to find something. If that fails again, I will go home for christmas and then go back out again. After may he will be finished in college and will try and get a job here, as I want to do my masters in Cardiff. Does anyone know if I have to have a return flight already booked if I am going out on a tourist visa?
By the way, I have already had some interest from a company about jobs who said "When you arrive, please ring me up and we can chat. Americans always like to
have a Brit accent around (especially on the phone) as Americans believe a British accent adds 50 points to your IQ." haha. so there's a plus of being British for you :P
