I live outside of Philadelphia and my guy lives in the Helsinki metro area. We met through work, were friends for a few years and just under two years ago, started taking it outside of work, and it quickly turned into what has become the most meaningful relationship I've ever had. He really is my best friend and we have so much in common. We're into geeky stuff - technology, philosophy, science, politics, history, etc., but we're also silly and stupid and like doing fun and interesting things We probably won't be able to close the distance for a few years, I still have family obligations here.

Like most, I found LFAD by doing a Google search. I wasn't sure how an international relationship could work, and I wanted to read up on it before I put the energy into this. Fortunately, I realized not only can they work, but they can work damn well!

I'm Kristin, I'm 21, and I'm studying music education at Miami University in Ohio. My boyfriend Beau will be 21 in March, and used to go to school with me here. He now lives in California, where he is from originally (he wanted to get as far as he could from CA for school) and is applying to culinary schools. Beau and I started dating our freshman year, and I'm now a junior. Our two year anniversary is on valentine's day and Beau will be here tomorrow to celebrate!

I found LFAD through the home site, where I think I found the 98 ideas for an LFAD page first. I like the blog part of the forum especially, but it's nice to know that there's a lot of support out there, even if I've never met any of you.

I'm 23 (as of yesterday!) and I have been with my boyfriend for almost 5 months. I live in Texas, and he lives in England.
We met when I went to visit a friend who had just moved in with her boyfriend whose brother lives with them. The brother became my boyfriend. I'm graduating in May, and he's coming for graduation. I'm then going back in July for a month. That month will be the longest we've gotten to be together. This is easily the best relationship I have ever had, and I am so lucky to have him. We plan on closing the distance next year.

I found LFAD when I was looking for advice on how to have successful long distance relationship. I love that there is a place to go to get and give advice.

I am self-employed, I am a student, I am a mother of 1, I am a divorcée (do they even use that term anymore? So 60's/70s). Since I used such an antiquated term to address myself, you probably figured out, I'm old...ish. I live in Florida.

I met my SO at Sixth Form(College), at first I kept denying that I liked him because I didn't really want a boyfriend. However I grew to love him and eventually asked him out.
We have been going out for a year and a nearly 2 months.

He went away to Portsmouth University to study History and American Studies and I'm stuck here at home.
Next year I hope to go study Computer Games programming in Kingston. I want to go study in Portsmouth but I doubt I will get in and my mum doesn't want me to move away.

I love anime, especially The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I also like going to conventions like London's Film and Comic Con.

At the moment I am looking for a job but failing as I'm "too shy".

I'm 30 years old and I live in Southern California. My SO lives in Northern California. I think the only thing keeping us from closing the distance is finances. That and the fact that we have to apply to be on a waiting list for the apartment building we want to move into and they haven't sent him the paperwork yet even though he requested it like two weeks ago.
