I have to cross the Pacific ocean to get to him.

My SO and I haven't met in person yet, but according to google it's almost a 24 hour drive. It's like 23 hours and some minutes. Greyhound is almost 2 days. Flights are like 5-6 hours. If he flies from Denver it's closer to 5 hours. We will find out in July exactly how long it really is.

It depends on the means of transport, obviously.
By plane: 30min train ride to the airport (I guess it would be 20min by car) + baggage drop and check in + 2h flight + 30min to get to his place = less than four hours.
We're lucky we both live near the biggest airports in our countries (although that's debatable in other contexts, living under an air corridor is not that much fun). There's a lot of direct flights and we have a short commute to the airport.
By train: 12 hours. We usually have to change trains twice.
By bus/coach: minimum 16hours, more often it's more than that.
He has also visited by car, but they had a lot of breaks and I don't remember how long it took them anyway.
To me travelling up to 10hours is ok. I sleep, read, eat, look out of the window, but after 10 hours there's this point where I really don't know what to do with myself anymore and just want to get there already.

If we meet up in Tokyo, it's takes around 17 hours for me to get there. (Included layovers) (+2 hours to get from the airport to Tokyo center)
If we meet up in Miyazaki (South Japan), I need another layover and it then becomes around 24 hours. (+1 hour to get from the airport to his house)
For him, he often can't take a flight from Miyazaki and make a flight to Europe on the same day, so he has to stay a night in Tokyo, which makes his travel around +48 hours.

see, threads like this always make you grateful for what you have.
Right now it is a 9 hour drive or a 1.5 hour flight (it will be longer if/when he joins the coast guard but I don't want to think of that right now).

I'm going to go by what I did the last time since I can't go the way I used to because I don't live there anymore.
First, I had a four hour drive to the airport. Then my mom and I waited about an hour after checking in before going through security. It was nice to spend that time with my mom. Then it was about a four hour flight to JFK. My layover was about four hours. The flight was delayed about an hour though. That sucked. Then the flight from JFK to Heathrow was about seven hours long. My SO's parents picked me up and they live about an hour away from Heathrow. Then from where they live to where my SO lives, it's about a 3.5 hour drive. So to *finally* get to my SO's house, it took about 20 hours altogether for this last trip."I'll hold you in my heart till I can hold you in my arms again."
