When we were LD, Ryanair made direct flights from Tampere in Finland to Edinburgh in Scotland throughout the year. Cheap-ass flights they are, by the way So if I went there, I had to travel twoish hours from where I live to the Tampere airport by car, then the flight would take a bit less than three hours, and he'd meet me in the Edinburgh airport and we'd take the train down to Newcastle where he lived, which also takes around two hours.

So to sum up, it took about 7 hours Not that long! We're going to England in a few days and because idiot Ryanair have made flights from Finland seasonal, we'll be going Jyväskylä - Helsinki - Copenhagen - Edinburgh - Newcastle and Newcastle - London - Helsinki - Jyväskylä >_>
So to get there, we'll be travelling for about 15 hours. Oh well, it'll be worth it, at least he'll get to see his mum again

      The journey goes like this:
5 mins metro ride to the closest place I can catch a bus to the airport - 30 mins riding the bus - 2,5 hours on a non stop flight from Barcelona to Hamburg - 30 mins car ride from the the airport to his place... =) I am always soooo excited that I forget about the time and stuff, I'm the happiest when I see him there standing at the airport exit.

Uhh, I wish there was low cost airllines on our route. Usually takes me around 28hrs to get to his arms, although once (icelands ash cloud, remember that one anyone?) it took me 48 hrs.
So it's flights Warsaw - London/Munich/Frankfurt - Singapore/HongKong/Bangkok - (Sydney)- Melbourne. With that in mind, travels to and from the airport don't really matter. . . what s_its me, that with the amounts of time and money we need to spend on the TRAVEL alone, theres no chance for short visits. And heres where I envy all of you within a driving distance. I'd freakin drive 10hrs every friday night to get to him!

We can only drive or take a greyhound bus since we're both poor college students (jaja!) but by car its about 5.5-6 hours. By bus its about 10 lol.

This time it will be taking me about 22 hours, provided there aren't any flight delays or complications. I lucked out and got a maximum layover time of 3 hours.
The 11 hour flight back is going to be killer, though...

We haven't met in person yet but I just checked on the internet, it takes 17u 45min by plane for me to get in Rio -_- It has a stop in Italy though. after that I'll probably have a long drive to his house but I dunno how long... but it'll all be worth it I'm sure.

Right now, about 30 mins drive.

When we were LD, A 2+ hour drive to the airport, then 2-3 flights totalling to 20-23 hours excluding layovers, and another 20-30 minute drive to my place. When going to Singapore, it would take two days because of the time zones we're in, but going to Oregon, I'd fly at 7am and get here 10am the same day. It's kind of amusing.

6 1/2-7 hours by car. That's really about the only option. He's going to school in a tiny town, the airport would be quite the drive, plus flights there are more expensive than driving, and because of layovers, only a few hours shorter.

He is over 1,000 miles from me. If I drive, it takes about 20-24 hours to drive to Orlando from my little town of Norman, Oklahoma. Google Maps says 20 hours, however, you have to consider potential traffic, gas stops, bathroom breaks, and toll roads...so that is why I roughly estimated to about 24 hours. Neither of us have ever attempted the drive because the amount we would spend on gas and car maintenance to make sure we got there in one piece would be about as much as a plane ticket.

A flight ranges from 6-8 hours, with layover included. OKC and our airport is so tiny that we always have to do a connecting flight in some other major airport. We've only experienced ONE direct flight from his town to mine and it was about a 4 hour flight. However, those became outrageously expensive and then disappeared all together. So, it is easier for us to just connect in Dallas or Houston, Texas.

It was only about 7 hour drive for us, or a much quicker flight. I can't imagine what some of you go through.

Wow, I definitely do appreciate the distance I have right now.
In my previous LDR, we had a 3 & 1/2 hour plane ride.
In my current LDR, we have a little over an hour plane ride or a 8.5 hour car ride.
