      1. How long have you and your SO been together?
We've been together 5 years this past July. It's been such a great experience, I've never been happier.
      2. How far apart are you?
Maybe like 15 miles. We were in a LDR for about a year and a half but I moved back here to be close to him and go to school.
      3. Who's in college - you, your SO, or both of you?
I'm in college. He was going to a tech school for a while but he decided the quality of education he was getting wasn't worth how much they charged. So he dropped, and now he's in the air force!
      4. What are you (and your SO if applicable) studying?
I'm getting my BS in Biology, I want to teach biology high school.
      5. When are you (or your SO or both) expected to graduate?
Well due to me being terrible when it comes to math, in two years X(
      6. Tell us a little about you!
I'm 20, about to turn 21 next month woo! I'm super girly, I love tacky pinks and glitter and shoes SHOES. I love cetaceans, anything ocean really. My dorm room is covered in fish stuff and dolphins and I even have a stuffed narwhal lol. I have a dwarf gourami who is currently with my SO because he's so old now I'm afraid to move him back to my dorm lol. And I also have two rats, Pangaea (Panji) and Snorlax. I'm a microbiology nerd, and I also love to play Pokemon with my SO (the video games and card game lol yes I'm a nerd). Nice to meet everyone!

          Guess i'll join the trend

          1. How long have you and your SO been together?
We've been together unofficially since may 17th when we sort of confessed our feelings, and officially since june 30th when we met, but we have been best friends for over 4 years and all out mutual friends always thought we were a couple.. long story

          2. How far apart are you?
1140 miles/1834 km roughly, i'm from romania, he's from belgium.

          3. Who's in college - you, your SO, or both of you?
We're both in college atm, we're late bloomers, changed our minds two times each about what we want to study.

          4. What are you (and your SO if applicable) studying?
He's 3rd year in computer science, I'm 2nd year in art, image for movies and television; filming is nice but i'm more attracted to photography and unfortunately, here you can't get a degree in just that.

          5. When are you (or your SO or both) expected to graduate?
We're both gonna graduate in 2014, and hopefully close the distance in the same year.

          6. Tell us a little about you!
I'm a textbook INFP (Myers-Briggs personality) but without all the dark depression stuff, 100% introvert, i'd like to think i'm creative but i'll just second guess myself and my modesty will just plain deny it He's a borderline INTP, very curious, patient and caring.
I'm a stubborn Taurus, he's a perfectionist Virgo and we're not superstitious but it's fun reading all the compatibility charts; apparently this combination is one of the best: yay us! We're both laid back people, him more than me, he's so zen it's nuts

            1. How long have you and your SO been together?
            17 months.
            2. How far apart are you?
            A little over 5000 miles.
            3. Who's in college - you, your SO, or both of you?
            Both of us.
            4. What are you (and your SO if applicable) studying?
I'm headed into my senior year as a psychology major. He's doing a general studies course with the intention of going on to study either computer science or digital marketing.
            5. When are you (or your SO or both) expected to graduate?
I graduate university summer of 2013 (eep!), plan to take a gap year, and then it's into graduate school for me, which could be anywhere from 3-5 additional years of studying plus internships. My SO graduates from his course also summer of 2013, then has a yet undetermined amount of years in his course of choice.
            6. Tell us a little about you!
I'm a 21-year-old crazy cat lady, and proud as hell of it. But seriously, I live in the bay area of California, am a beach girl through and through, and don't intend to ever live too far from the coast. I am absolutely in tune with nature (water being my element), believe we are as much a part of the Earth as it is a part of us, and believe in a universal energy that bands us all together - yep, I'm one of those. I live in a hippie town where people talk openly about energy and alternative medicines and have a heavy eastern component to our general philosophies, even our medical doctors, and I wouldn't change it for the world. I have a cat and a dog and I love them both, but truly believe that my cat is my soul/spirit mate. He means the world to me. Luckily he approves of my SO. I am not yet sure where my relationship with my SO is headed (we don't have a closing the distance timeline), but I'm enjoying every step of the journey and simply working on letting the future unfold as the future will and enjoying the happiness now as it exists in the present. I also love chatting, so feel free to drop me a line anytime.

I am currently doing my clinical work at the VA hospital in my town (this is the Veterans hospital). My father was a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and passed away with lung cancer, but I know he'd be proud to know I am helping serving those who have served for us. I am not big on war or anything, but it is incredibly sad how the U.S. will gladly take as many young men as they can who want to go out and fight in the wars and then once they come back, either injured or relieved of duty, they don't help them. Many of the men (and a few women) I care for are homeless or borderline bankrupt. They had big dreams of going out and being a hero when they were young men (many refer to this as "being young, with big dreams, and stupid"), not fully realizing the harm that could (and has) been done to them physically, mentally, and emotionally. These are the things that drive my passion to help them. I had one sweet man tell me: "Sweetheart, you are a special type of soldier for what you are doing in this hospital for your fellow man. You are something wonderful, doing amazing things."
<3 That is what I live for <3
This! Every single day of my life for the past three years in med school. There is no better feeling than the satisfaction of doing something you truly love. And the rewards from the careers we have chosen is beyond what you can explain in words. I love every second of it. I worked at the VA for a bit too during my clerkship in surgery and I feel the same way you do. Kinda throws people off sometimes that I'm so passionate about the men who serve our country (i don't know anyone in the military), but its seriously the least they deserve.

Exactly!! It is great to know someone who has worked in the VA for some time lol I get a lot of crap for it by my family. They are like, "Ew. The VA is bad/dirty/sad/depressing/etc" or "You aren't going to get the same experience there as you would somewhere else" and the one that irritates me the most is "It isn't safe there..."
First off, a lot of hospitals are in the center of the cities where, for the most part, aren't generally safe areas anyway! You always got to be on your guard. Also, how rude! These men fought for your country and now, most of them are struggling to get by and have such severe PTSD that they can hardly keep their life in check. Why would we NOT want to help them when they need help so badly...

Lastly! Congratulations with being so far in med school! That is AMAZING and requires a lot of dedication and heart!

                    1. How long have you and your SO been together?
                    Almost 2 years-ish?
                    2. How far apart are you?
                    About 2100 miles.
                    3. Who's in college - you, your SO, or both of you?
                    Right now, just Miguelito.
                    4. What are you (and your SO if applicable) studying?
Miguel is studying Materials Engineering. When I go to university next year, hopefully I'll be taking Mechatronic Engineering.
                    5. When are you (or your SO or both) expected to graduate?
Miguel has been in school for 2 years, and he's planning on taking 6 years with his degree (because of co-op). I will probably take the same, though I'll be starting school next year.
                    6. Tell us a little about you!
Aww ya'll know us already :P Miguel loves the everliving shit out of cars, and has been planning to build them since he was a child. He didn't get into Mechanical engineering, which would have been a more straight forward path to it, so he went with Materials instead. I'm one of those super genius kids that actually hates school, so I took some time off school to give myself a break (and to realize how much I can't stand minimum wage jobs). I've been a high school graduate for like 2 going on 3 years now, but next year I'm going to apply to Langara College (in Vancouver! Yay!) for a one year Engineering Certificate program. That program is basically the equivalent of first year engineering at the University of British Columbia, directed towards students like me, who have taken some time off school and want to break themselves back into university life slowly. Once I complete it, I transfer directly into UBC's second year engineering, and continue on from there.
We both will be taking co-op, because it freaking rocks. Job experience before you graduate, and EXCELLENT pay (to help us pay our way through uni! )

"In order to attain the impossible, one must attempt the absurd."

May 2013! After I graduate I have to get a fellowship for 9 months and then apply for a license to practice

                              6. Tell us a little about you!
I turn 23 on Saturday and can't believe how fast time flies! I am obsessed with dogs. I love almost every type of music and country is my favorite. I've played the clarinet since I was 9 year old and wish I had to time to play now, but school is too crazy right now. I am very sentimental and my family and friends mean the world to me! I thought I wanted to work with children once I graduate, but I'm doing a hospital rotation and I love it! I try to live life one day at a time, but sometimes I can't help but daydream about the future :-)

I agree! They are some of the most deserving people I know. My VA is on the same avenue as most hospitals here in Manhattan so its not like a particularly bad neighborhood. I just think people don't really have a good understanding of what the VA does and who it does it for. And lol thank you! I love every day of it =D. Proud of you too!
