I'm currently searching for a plane ticket to visit my SO over summer as well. I live in Los Angeles and he lives in Germany, so our distance is not that much different from yours.
You found that deal with United? I've just checked their website, but I can't find anything for under $1200

I read a report once that said that Tuesday is the best time to look for lowest prices. Not the best to book a flight for but when to search for best prices anywhere. It had something to do with the way the airlines managed their schedules. Some say this is true and others have other opinions but an interesting read for sure for us air fare searchers.

Does your SO drive? I'm guessing probably, because public transport in the Ellington area isn't that great.
You can get the MetroNorth train from NYC to Bridgeport, CT (or elsewhere, like Watertown) for like $12 if someone could pick you up from the station.Last edited by silvermoonfairy3; March 17, 2014, 11:07 AM.
