I was engaged to my first husband when I was 17 and married at 18. We were married for 11 years. (Separated at the end, couldn't afford the divorce.)
Rane proposed when I was 28 and we got married when I was 29.

when my SO and i got engaged, we were looking at a 3 year engagement period and it has currently evolved into 7... the people that matter to us know what our situation is, and what/when things will happen, and with the others, well we just pretend to already be married :P

I'm not officially engaged...yet. But I think he'll be popping the question whenever I go down to see him. He's been dropping little hints about it. I'm 17 - 18 in February. And my SO wants to get married next summer. We'll both be 18.

I'm 17 now and I feel to young to get married, or even engaged yet. I would say 22 is a good age to get engaged. My mom got married with 20, and she is now happily married for 18 years, but still...I wanna wait a little longer Probably in my last year of college. My SO and I talked a lot about getting married around that time...

Back in the day...i was married at age 20, just turned 21 when i had my first son, and 23 when i had my youngest....i was married for almost 9 years..im 32 now. I want to get married again. I could get married tomorrow if mark asked me. I have always encouraged my nieces to wait until they are like 25-26. I fee like I didn't get to do a lot of things. but i wouldn't give up my life for anything

Well, I'm not engaged yet. Me and my SO haven't even met in person yet! I'm guessing I probably won't get engaged until me and my SO are in our early 20's.. possibly later. Right now, I feel like we are too young to get married or engaged. I'm 18 and he's 17. Also his mom would bite my head and his head off we got engaged! ;_; She freaked out over me and him discussing having kids in the future...

I wouldn't want to be engaged yet. I feel like it would put too much pressure on a wedding being soon.
I would like to live with my partner for at least couple of years before an engagement and then maybe another year or 2 or so for a wedding. I used to be against weddings..I just wanted to be able to be with my partner if I had one and just be happy like that. But I've come around a bit lately.

Hmm, me and my SO were talking about this, and we both feel like we are too young for all this marriage/engagement stuff. I'm 19 and he's 20, and both his and my parents were married by our age, but it just seems too soon. I'm hoping maybe closer to the end of University in 3-4 years time, we'll get engaged. But any sooner would just feel like rushing into things for me.

I'll be 22 when I get married next November.
Maybe I'm meant for the sea. We pass it by so passively & all that's said is what we know;; We'll watch it come;; We'll watch it go..

I'm 20 and my SO is 21 and we have been together close to 5 years.
We have discussed getting married, and there's no doubt that we will.
To me, personally, getting engaged means "we are now planning the wedding" and it frustrates me that some people I know get engaged to a)show off b)prove that they are a "real" couple c)prevent a break up d)get a shiny ring or e) because they feel it is just the "next step"
I personally want to buy a house with my SO before we get married, simply because house deposits and weddings generally cost the same in Australia ($10,000 to $20,000) and I don't think I could happily spend my house deposit on one day! Cost is really the only reason for that decision.
But that said, if by the time we have saved the money (we are looking at 2 years maybe) and we haven't settled in a semi-permanent location then I think we would definitely get married before we buy a house.

I think 23-26 is a good time to get married - before that no one takes you seriously, and whilst ideally I would like to say that other's opinions don't bother me - they do. I want my day to be special and not have anyone (at the wedding or not) doubting us or thinking we are immature kids. It would just put a dampener on the day... I reckon I will probably get engaged aged 21-23, and married aged 23-25.

Also in regards to the house - I know many people do not agree with buying such a massive investment with someone they are not married to, but under recent Australian laws, my SO is my defacto, therefore the same rules apply if we broke up or got divorced - we would both get something of the other's - if we wished to take it to court. The law was introduced to create equality for same sex marriages, so I really support it, but feel sorry for those who don't want those sort of commitments hehe

I would prefer to not have to deal with marriage ever. I do not like the idea too much, but I know it's something Enrique is dead set on. I already told him I'd be willing to do it, but just as long as he doesn't bring it up before we're 25 (20 now). I want to at least have my bachelor's before I end up thinking about such a big commitment. Then there's also the issue of gay marriage. We could get legally married with me as a female, but I think it would just add to much of a damper on a day that should be happy and full of celebration. It would also be nice to wear a tux at my own wedding :P. I'd rather wait until I'm legally male, but then that adds health insurance issues since I do what to try for biological kids, and I might not get covered if I change my gender to legally male before that XP. We could have kids first, but Enrique wants to wait for kids until after marriage.

So basically, huge headache @_@. That's where we decided no marriage talk until after 2014 and health insurance reform is more stable assuming the teaparty doesn't fuck us over XP. I pray for gay marriage so I don't have to get married as a woman ;_;.

I was married at 20 and divorced by 22. WAY TOO YOUNG. I'm now 39 and on year 11 of my LDR.
