I'd love a promise ring! I hope my SO somehow thinks of the idea for our 1 year anniversary, because I'd like to know we will be together forever and I think a promise ring symbolizes future engagement and eventual marriage. I've wanted to marry my boyfriend since I was 9 years old...he doesn't know that! Lol. For now, I wear my class ring on my left ring finger, and have since we became LD, which is almost our entire relationship.

we do have promise rings ! and ummm actually i was the one that gave it to him well send it. i saw this silver rings at a store w "The Journey of a thousands miles begins with one step" written on them n i like them a lot and so i send one to him with out really thinking them as a promise rings until he got his n said that it was our official promise rings. the funny thing here is that i gave it to him, n is the first time he gets a ring like this one...
im really open in the way that i dnt always expect him to do always the traditional things for me, like the first time we met i took him to a surprise dinner... stuff like that.

My boyfriend gave me a promise ring for Christmas this year. With being long-distance most of the year until I graduate college in 2013, is really nice to have a symbol of his commitment to me while we're apart. We are planning on getting married soon after I graduate, but do not want a long engagement as it puts more pressure on the relationship, that we would really rather not deal with. When he gave it to me he told me, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and this is the first we can take right now." It really painted a beautiful picture of his commitment to faithfulness, purity, and eternal love for me. Obviously, I promote promise rings [in the right situation]. I love the idea of them.

I'm an events organiser for non-profits for a living, so I'm used to trying to pull together big events quickly and on a small budget. I'm super organised and have an AMAZING financee whos helping with so much and even I'm getting a massive headache from wedding planning - its just part of the job description!
Just my 2 cents worth and lil bit of advice if your aiming to avoid pressure and stressTea and hugs make the world go round - don't ever discount the little things in life.
Smiling away to oneself brings an obscene amount of joy when only you know the reason why your smiling. Pick something secret to smile about and let it light up your face all day long!
And remember....Love really IS all around.

Oh! We're not trying to avoid the stress of planning! Its sexually that it puts more pressure on us. Haha. We're waiting to have to sex until after we're married and to be that one step closer makes it that much harder to wait. We're looking at a year-long engagment as of now and even that is pushing it. That's 'official' engagement---we already know we want to get married. It probably sounds silly to most, but its working for us.

My boyfriend thinks promise rings are not really necessary. Instead, he gave me a half of a necklace and he wears the other half. To me, it's like a promise ring and much more meaningful for us. As long as we wear it, we know we are still together and still love each other. I did want a promise ring before because I want to have something that symbolizes our love, but it's not necessary now.
Pic of necklaces, but the one we have are reverse in colours. Gold heart, silver puzzle pieces.

I previously wore my boyfriend's old ring on my neck in a necklace but at my last visit I got a promise ring (really pretty, but not that so expensive kind of so I don't feel bad about that he spent a fortune on it) and I really loved it. For us it's just means that we will be faithful and honest to each other and we will do everything for our relationship. It was really sweet when he gave it to me at the last day when I was leaving back to home. Maybe it's silly and cheesy but I loved it

I have a promise ring. It is silver with diamonds set to look like two flowers. One is taller than the other (as are Josh and I). It was given as a promise that we will love each other no matter what. I didn't need the ring but it was a nice thought since we were so young..its like a pre-engagement ring. When I get sentimental I always mess with it. And when we fight I just stare at it and reflect on what it meant and how much I do love him.

I guess I would say we have a promise ring. It was given as a gift from him to fit my right ring finger. Nothing verbal was ever said from memory but it was a ring to say "i love you" - it has three aquamarine stones and two tiny diamonds and is a white gold band. I remember I got it for Christmas one year, so I have probably been wearing it since I was 16 or 17, and we are now looking at buying an engagement ring after my 21st (well the diamond has already been purchased and the band is being made!).

My boyfriend gave me one, and I love it. It means a lot to me cause he also wears a ring to show that he is taken. I just love the fact that he wants me as his and he wants to be mine.sigpic

I'm undecided about promise rings. On the one hand, I think it's cute for young couples to do it, and reading about what you guys have said, it's a nice thing for LD couples to do to show their loyalty and honesty. But on the other hand, I've always thought they were cheesy, juvenile, and unmeaningful.
It's definitely a toss-up.

I got a ring for our 2 year anniversary. It isn't a promise ring per say, i mean he didn't say it was. But he says he loves me and can see his life with me, so im looking at it as a sign of commitment. Everytime i look at it (which is all the time lol) it reminds me of how lucky i am and how i want to spend forever with him. So kinda think of it that way lol even if its not really that way.I love you Nathan <3
