We use facebook chat, and currently use facebook video chat as well because it's the only one that seems to work on the laptop my boyfriend is currently using while at uni (it's borrowed from family until he can get his own). Once that's fixed, and when he's on his home PC and eventually gets his new laptop, we will most likely be back to ooVoo. But facebook chat has remained our constant form of quick messages and the start to our conversations (we'll go on facebook first and THEN, once both of us are online we'll agree to video chat or whatever).

My SO and I abandoned MSN years ago. It was our go to platform for many years, but with the updates, it just got increasingly worse and worse until MSN was no longer recognizable. Even worse, the updates made video chatting impossible. Your computers just refused to let MSN connect the video.
We have since gone to Xfire. It is a gaming IM that allows you to chat while in PC games. Very useful because it allows me to see when my SO is busy/in a game and vice versa (we're both big gamers). It also lets us chat if we're both playing seperate games.
Mostly, though, we use Skype. 95% of the time, if we're both on our PCs, we're doing video or voice calls.
When we're away from our PCs, we use BBM (Blackberry Messenger).Last edited by Lady Grimm; October 4, 2012, 12:44 AM.

We use Skype but we both have MSN and being the goofs that we are we sneak messages on MSN during Skype conversations :P We just started texting via Twitter (a suggestion I took from here) which is working great so far. We don't have to worry about wifi access and so far its not costing anything because we both get a certain amount of free local texting.“The ties that binds us are sometimes impossible to explain. They connect us even after it seems like the ties should be broken. Some bonds defy distance and time and logic; Because some ties are simply… meant to be.” - Grey’s Anatomy
