    Jobs

I dunno if this is the right forum for this, but i was wondering:

    1. Is anyone else here having a really hard time finding a job?

    And

    2. Is there any job hunting tips and sites that you could share with those of us who are struggling?

I'm supposed to be getting married late next year... But with no job and all of the expenses i fear that will not happen anytime soon :/ A nd if that doesn't happen things will deffinantly fall apart...

I can relate, i want a lot to happen in these next few years, and with no job just seems like its going to be hard for me to contribute to us. Had one job opportunity, and I kind of gave it up, for personal reasons. I don't know how this is going to affect us in the long run. So hoping for a seasonal but the holidays are here and no luck. so ehh.... Im in this same boat.
    I love you Nathan <3

LOL i say "same boat" too lol (I felt the need to point that out) anyways. IKR! I was really hoping to land at least a seasonal job but nothing at all has turned up yet. I've called and called and applied and applied.... After so long with things so stale i start to get a little dejected and unmotivated :/

I only applied for a seasonal job tonight. It's a little bit late in the game but I won't be free until next week, so fingers crossed. :/ Have you looked at what might be available at your local mall? Our mall generally seems to have opportunities, whether it's working a kiosk or seasonal (in my case, being a Santa's Helper... Why do I have a feeling I might regret this if I end up hired?). Other than that, I could only suggest the obvious, e.g. local job postings or Craigslist.

Do you have the opportunity to do odd jobs at all? I tutor and have been a tutor for years. It's not a stable job, and one does have to account for the holidays, but it's certainly well paying. I know some people who make a little extra money doing art or selling things on Etsy. You could even consider doing something so simple as holding a yard sale to get rid of what you no longer use/need. Good luck, though. I know it's difficult to find a job lately, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. :/

Thanks! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well. I haven't looked on craigslist yet.. But I've been applying for pretty much everything. I'm actually in the middle of an application. I'm not sure if i have the opportunity for any odd jobs?

Don't be discouraged! My SO just landed a job after applying at sooooo many places. You will find one, you just need to keep persevering. Try to find a good job search engine (I'm in australia so I'm not too sure about what you guys have in the US, sorry!), and look up tips online to help make your resume a little nicer. It is always a bonus to write a cover letter for each job you apply for. Also, wear professional attire to the interview, even if it's not a professional job. First impressions are a huge factor. Good luck!

Jobs are hard to come by in general now a days. I have two jobs that i've had before this recession hit. My brother can't find a job and he's just starting in the work force. Hes applied everywhere. My SO while he was here for three months applied everywhere to no avail. So, its not just you a lot of people are suffering and feeling this hardship. You aren't alone! Just don't give up. Someone will look at your resume n call you for an interview and know you are the right one for the job. See if there are any job fairs around where you live, that's where i got my job. Good Luck!
                "You want for myself
You get me like no one else
                I am beautiful with you

                I am beautiful with you
Even in the darkest part of me
                I am beautiful with you
Make it feel the way it's supposed to be
                You're here with me
Just show me this and I'll believe
                I am beautiful with you"

Generally door knocking is the best way to impress and get a job, also the best way to find those 80% hidden jobs that aren't advertised. I am also in this state, looking for a job, but have no confidence/fear of going out to talk to managers and handing in resumes.

If you live in the states you can try job postings on craigslist. That's how I found mine. You can tell the real postings by the amount of information. Like address or actual business names. If you have retail experience you can try the mall or other stores since it's the holiday season. It may just be seasonal, but it's better than nothing. There are a lot of new restaurants opening. Wish you lived in Georgia. There are postings on craigslist about restaurant job openings all the time. Also monster.com or I believe it's called career builder now and snagajob are good sites that I've used in the past they just don't typically have things that are related to my field of study. I would also look at hotels in your area because they're always looking for banquet servers and things like that. Just depends on how much experience you have. Anyway good luck. I know how hard it is. I've been trying to find a job since I was 16, more aggressively now that I'm in college, but still. This will be my first job and I'm 20 years old.

Wish I had read your post before I put mine. hehehe. Oh the tutoring thing reminds me. I found some sites back during my search that caters to college student. Maybe it will help both of you. One is called barefootstudent.com. The other is studentoffortune.com. Also if you're in front of the computer a lot you could find some legit survey sites. Just a quick fix, but nothing permanent in those. I can't focus long enough to do them. There's also places like hospitals and colleges that pay for different studies. Again a quick fix, but a littel money is better than nothing in my opinion. Oh and good luck to you Eclaire

Ohhh man my SO used craigslist and I tried to help him find jobs on there but pretty much like 8/10 of the jobs on there are all scams. It's ridiculous. It was frustrating because so many of them seemed like genuine job opportunities.
